Why did McCrae Hospitals rebrand to Amalga?
We’ve put the platform’s original name back on the label. Amalga speaks to our mission: unifying clinical + operational data so frontline teams move faster. The core tech is unchanged, just a clearer promise of connected care.
-
What is Amalga?
A cloud-native, modular hospital system built for the front-line. It covers everything from patient administration to ward, theatre, revenue-cycle, clinical workflow and real-time bed flow, all on one platform.
-
Who owns Amalga and where are you based?
Amalga is owned by McCrae Tech, a NZ-owned innovation lab founded by Ian McCrae. It is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand with customers across New Zealand, Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines.
-
Which hospitals run on Amalga today?
30+ hospitals and 5000+ beds trust the platform for day-to-day operations across public, private and multi-sites including American International Hospital, Rutnin Eye Hospital, Chaophya Hospital, Far East Medical Vietnam, Mahachai Hospitals, Franklin Private Hospital, Kaweka Health, Health NZ South Island, VINMEC International and Asian Hospital.
-
How does Amalga speed up care?
Core design principles: Modular & Scalable, Mobile-ready, Fully Integrated, remove duplicate data entry and keep clinicians and care moving. Real-time patient-flow dashboards add the missing “air-traffic-control” layer.
-
Is Amalga interoperable?
Yes. We expose open APIs and map to FHIR R4, HL7 v2/v3 and SNOMED CT so you can plug into national and regional exchange platforms.
-
Cloud or on-prem?
Both. Amalga ships cloud-native out of the box but also runs in hybrid or on-prem environments for regions with tight data-sovereignty rules.
-
What modules can we start with?
Choose what works: Patient Administration, Clinicals, Ward & Theatre, Revenue-Cycle, Inventory, Referral, eAdmissions and more . Turn on what you need; scale when you’re ready.
